Panos,
You will need to develop a new widget. If you do get it working, it
would be great to contribute this code back to the community.

Hi Yaw,
thank you for your reply...
Is there any step-by-step guide of how we implement a new widget ... ?
because I have the code of reading NFC in a different application that i
have already implement..
Thanks again
Panos
Panos,
I don't think there is a step-by-step guide. Look at external string
and barcode scanning widgets to get a sense of what you'd have to do.
There probably should be some documentation around external string,
but the core team hasn't had time to write something up. Any hidden
docs, Mitch?

Hi Panos,
By any chance, did you find a solution to this? or end up building one?
I'm interested to know if something exists for collecting values from NFC
tags through an external app from Collect.
Thanks,
-Alex
No hidden docs. I would strongly recommend implementing this via the
external app functionality
The snippet under
Has a bit about how to return values from the 3rd party app back to ODK
Collect, in the single-value case. For the with intent attribute,
the returned values are in key-value pairs matching the group's nested
fields.

Hi Alex,
finally i hired an android developer who developed for me a java
program for android that waits a nfc tag and returns the serial number of
the tag or the ndef record as a text.
After that in XLSForm in appearance field i wrote
ex:the_name_of_the_activity (ex:com.panosp.nfc.activity) and works like
Barcode Scanner... with a button.. If you want to change the Label of the
button you must check the XLSForm guideline..
Tell me if i can help in any way
Best Regards
Panos
