I am facing a similar type of issue in cascading from external file.
In fact, I need to apply cascading at different sets of questions that also include "repeat". Applying it from the "choices" sheet works fine but it increases the file size. While using external file it shows error "Index: 0, Size: 0).
I have used cascading from the external file, before. It worked fine! but there all questions were in a sequence and on the same screen. Even here, at the first portion of the form, it is working but at later stages, may be due to repeat or the gap between the questions, it is not working.
I am using Collect v1.25.1
